Lenotti, Capomastro 2021

Lenotti is a stunning winery which sits on the shores of Italy's Lake Garda. Founded in 1906 as a "grape farm", it wasn't until 1968 that the custodians rightfully realised their fruit was of such good quality they should start making their own wine. Focusing on what the Veneto region does best: Bardolino, Valpolicella and Amarone; the Lenotti mantra is all about sustainability and putting the fruit first, which definitely shines through in their wines. Capomastro 2021 is made from a blend of 50% Corvina and 50% Rebo; the grapes were purposefully harvested late so the sugar levels would be enhanced and makes for a nicely rich wine almost like a "baby Amarone". Bursting with notes of juicy strawberry, black plum and oak; it's bold fruity flavours belies its medium-bodied palate and lighter alcohol, making it a great pair with charcuterie or lighter pasta dishes.
